Message: Hi,
I have a ~3 week old Deer mouse(or White-footed, not sure) that I've raised the past two weeks. I bought a "Critter trail" cage to house him in , and in 24 hours, he has managed to escape 3 times. Has anybody else had similar problems?

Message: Okay - to start with, I love Crittertrails. All of my mice live in them. However, the Crittertrail bars are too wide for very small baby mice. They are fine for adults, but the babies can slip through them (I have had the same problem). Keep the Crittertrail for when "Houdini" is bigger, and get either a Penn Plax enclosure (no bars; something like the "Down Under Dingo" habitat) or an aquarium with a screen lid. Either of these should keep Houdini where you want him/her.

Message: Deer mice can be real escape artists. Since you've named him Houdini it's clear you've figured that out. I use tanks with screen tops. These seem to be much more escape proof, but if the lid isn't on tight they may still escape.
